The NY Times recently did an interesting article about the political meaning behind women wearing hot pink suits. These suits signify how unapologetic women have become especially to wear a color that bright and bold. Previously, women politicians wore white at one of Trump’s State of the Union to represent the suffrage movement and female solidarity. However, the trend has shifted towards hot pink. With the hashtag: #Ambitioussuitsyou, it pushes women to boldly show off their strength of purpose.

The color pink has become political in these years specifically during the women’s march with its pink pussy hats. It is interesting to see how pink has transformed. Previously, it was once seen as a very feminine, sweet, and borderline fragile color. But it has reshift since women have taken it to represent female empowerment.

However, in many situations, it is important to consider the intersectionality that exists within the women’s movement and how some women are more disenfranchised than others. It is important to acknowledge that the women’s movement is not a monolith.
