A Japanese company called Triad produces sticky note pads called Omoshiroi Blocks that reveal a miniature sculpture as the notes are used. In this class we have repeatedly discussed the balance of functionality and design, a combination that this product does a very good job of maintaining. While the sticky notes are still fully functional, once the sticky notes are used, a beautiful design is shown, giving the product a greater artistic purpose.

There are many different sculptures that appeal to different audiences such as Hogwarts, cherry blossoms, and other famous architectural models. The battle between functionality and aesthetics is something that is important in many areas, especially as there is a growing focus in sustainability as environmental concerns are being brought into attention.
