In 2009, chemists at Oregon State University created a brand new blue pigment. The YinMn Blue is the first new blue color to be created in over 200 years and was made by mixing indium oxide, manganese oxide, and yttrium oxide at high temperatures. It was approved by the EPA in 2020 to be used commercially in paints which is great for artists. Historically, finding a blue pigment that has a deep rich color, is nontoxic, and is not susceptible to fade has been extremely difficult. YinMn blue is found to be a very stable and nontoxic substance making it perfect for artists to use. If you want to use it in digital art, its hex color is #2E5090.
