Recently, a new Hollywood film starring Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, and Jared Leto released depicting the rise of luxury fashion brand Gucci. Based on the true story, the movie shows how the Italian Gucci family was removed from the brand by investors due to fraud and overall just terrible brand management. The movie, in Hollywood style, overdramaticizes key elements of the story but gets the point across – a brand is only as successful as the people managing it.
As designers, it is important to think about how to keep our designs fresh and manage them into the constantly changing styles of the future. The real Gucci family says the film displays an inaccurate portrayal of key figures in the story – see here.
