In this work, Salcedo looks to explore ideas of remembering and forgetting. She created an installation where on slabs of stone the names of 300 refugees that lost their lives on passage to Europe have been written. Instead of etching their names into the stone, we see that their names are formed by water that rises to the surface through tiny holes, and as these names disappear, new ones are formed.
