Virgil Abloh, a visionary in fashion and arts, passed away on November 28th, 2021. He faced a private battle with cancer since 2019. To celebrate his life, I will talk about how he shaped the fashion industry and creativity. To begin with, Abloh served as the artistic director for Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection from 2018 until his death, he worked with many famous artists including Kanye, Lil Uzi Vert, and ASAP Rocky on creating timeless album cover, started his own brand off–white, and inspired generations of artists, creatives, and visionaries within fashion.

One of the most notable collaborations that he had was with Nike that shaped the trajectory of footwear and fashion. The most iconic shoe out of that collection is pictured above. No one had ever done anything like it. I think there was power in creating a new website design that shaped the understanding of how footwear can show art and design at the same time. This was just one of his works. To explore more about this and his other seminal works, I encourage you to check out canary—yellow and this biography.

Rest in peace. 🕊
