Many people are becoming entrepreneurs and creating their own things in our generation. One of those people is Sydney Simone. She launched her brand, “Simone The Label”, during the pandemic after realizing how attainable it was during an event she produced. Her hope was to design something artful and meaningful. Unlike being another jewelry brand that focuses on e-commerce, Simone created pieces that highlight social justice causes and donates a portion to Equal Justice Initiative. In addition, she works with creators rooted in her community. Recently, she collaborated with Allyson Felix – a track and field olympian – where she designed anklets to accompany Felix’s new sneaker. Ultimately, the pieces were to have a balance of femininity and strength. In order to accomplish this, they used stainless steel based and tarnish resistant metal that wouldn’t fade and could be worn in the rain. Furthermore, Simone played on the brand name Saysh which means wave. The wave crest turns into this clear glass blue when it hits the top so Simone intended to translate that into one of her designs that has a mint green stone. You can take a look at her work on here.
