The exhibit Neukom Vivarium caught my attention because it incorporates a fallen hemlock tree that is now placed in a gallery. In the interview linked below, Mark Dion calls this installation an abomination in how it moves the tree from its natural habitat to another site. It is important though that this tree is kept alive so the exhibit features a complex “life support system” to replace what would occur in nature. I definitely recommend reading the transcript of this interview and seeing how Mark Dion makes a statement on climate change and the effect of pollution around the world through his art.
