Although we passed the Dada animation assignment, I just wanted to share a painter that I think has some interesting surrealist art: Vladimir Kush.
He specifically calls his art “metaphorical realism.” In his own words he states that “To reflect the world in the mirror of the metaphor – this is the goal of the artist.”
Another interesting thing I found was although Kush is inspired by Dali, some people actually have confused his work for Dali’s. The specific piece is “Departure of the Winged Ship” (https://www.pressrelease.com/news/vladimir-kush-sets-the-record-straight-on-his-painting-departure-of-21192701):
Also (old news) but Ariana Grande’s music video for “God is a woman ” seemed to have a scene that looks very similar to Vladimir’s painting as shown below (https://news.artnet.com/art-world/ariana-grande-lawsuit-dropped-vladimir-kush-1631758).
In addition to his paintings he also has sculptures and jewelry abstracted from his paintings. Attached are some of his paintings that I find interesting as well as a link to his site if you want to check it out! (https://kushfineart.com/)
