In Kanye’s latest release, Donda, he opted to choose a plain and simple black. In the past, he usually has a colorful background with vibrant and meaningful connections to the songs that he produces. I feel that this time he was not deliberate in his choice and was just lazy. I am sure that he is able to afford and create a meaningful album cover. Sometimes I try to formulate a meaning behind the black album cover(i.e. he wants a clean slate and letting the music speak for itself), but other times it leads me to believe that people will accept any type of work that he produces. Regardless, I think artists should make deliberate decisions on the type of cover that they are producing.
