As an active Instagram user, I am always interested in social media and photo editing trends. Over the summer and into this fall semester, I have noticed a rise in ‘casual’ instagram posts––seemingly unedited and unfiltered content of someone’s life. There is a push to be ‘more real,’ even though being ‘more real’ is usually a facade. I am intrigued by this push towards authenticity, despite knowing that social medias are now inherently unauthentic. I am curious on others’ takes on this new trend online. Is it really more transparency? Or are we hiding even more?
