Anaxagoras of Clazomenae (5th century BCE) is known for arguing that there is a bit of everything in, well, everything. As vague as this sound, I find it to be an incredibly eloquent communication of the idea that, in a universe so complex, there is an omnipotence of all physical entities in some quantity throughout.

In recent years, this phrase has reemerged in popular culture, particularly in spirituality and self care contexts to suggest that our lives are not bound by binaries and the boundaries we believe in, but rather that existence is full of spectrums and continuities and contradictions. I see this idea in the art of Glen Ronald, an artist whom I have followed for many years. His detailed, surrealist illustrations suggest immense depth, and also the transcendence of reality. He blends elements of human anatomy with nature and animals, also incorporating abstract motifs like smoke and human silhouettes. The result, I think, is stunning, and embodies visually the idea that there is a bit of everything in everything.
