I was on a walk around Philly earlier today and I saw these stickers on the back of someone’s car. I was thinking about if these could constitute a public intervention. In a way, they are a somewhat unexpected, public demonstration of someone’s interests and characteristics. But, if we call these stickers an intervention, what distinguishes an intervention from just everything that we see around us that was someone’s personal choice?

For example, could we say that the color someone decides to paint their house is an intervention? I guess I’m just confusing myself the more I try to think about the boundary between what a public intervention is and just normal everyday decisions (in terms of physical surroundings). It reminds me of the distinction between art and design.
