The new Sound Analysis project reminded me of another creative medium, data visualization. While data encompasses a lot of things that aren’t sound, I think it’s interesting to see the ways these data artists use design-based thinking to interpret images from non-visual things like numbers and statistics. Their techniques and thinking might apply to interpreting visuals from sound as well (which is a form of data too!)
