I waste a lot of time mindlessly scrolling through apps like Facebook and TikTok, but once in a while, a cool video will appear that grabs my attention.  Here are two of them that I’ve stumbled across recently.

Earlier, I saw a video of this person named Giovanni Contardi making mosaics out of Rubik’s Cubes.  He makes hyper-realistic gradient map portraits of celebrities, superheroes, and famous paintings – all with only Rubik’s Cubes.

Each rubik’s cube only has 6 unique colors, so in total, each large image he creates only uses 6 colors. However, he’s able to create the illusion of dimension by manipulating each face, picking out only the colors he wants.

On TikTok, I ran into a video of an artist (@noelquidlat) recreating images of celebrities using only a singular sheet of paper and an X-Acto knife.

To think that one mistake will require him to restart, it’s actually impressive to see something as detailed and accurate as a photo. It’s crazy to me how people come up with the ideas for these works!

These are actually insane. I cannot imagine how much careful planning would have gone into these designs.
