Seeing the recent Oscar nomination in costuming for the movie Emma (2020), I was reminded of how much I loved the costume designs for this film. The colors and styles all worked cohesively in the film’s world building- this reminded me of our readings of visual literacy and communication models. Costumes are art; the styling and colors are all intentionally chosen to communicate a specific message.
