In our discussion and exploration of color this week, I stumbled across one of those quirky, Buzzfeed-esque online quizzes that reveals your “true” essence or personality. This time, your sense, perception, and preference of color supposedly revealing your mental age. I was excited to find out.
The result? The quiz told me that my mental age is 30-39 years. Halfway into the semester, I definitely feel it. I would love to understand the reasoning behind the questions as I am curious about the science and psychology of how we perceive color as we age. Were they purposeful in eliciting an age-appropriate response? What role does choosing color play? I was left with so many questions. Even without any scientific basis or evidence, if the quiz was just an amusing way to spend 7 1/2 minutes (along with the 35 mil people who viewed the video), I’m not mad about it. Hahaha I’ve always been skeptical of these type of tests, and after doing it, I still am. I also got a mental age of 30-39. Nevertheless, I think the questions and different options go to show that we all perceive color differently. Very amusing!
