We’ve all come across and probably used the free online encyclopaedia that we call Wikipedia. For Wikipedia’s 20th birthday, two illustrators created a set of 101 symbols to celebrate the power of human collaboration, creativity, and curiosity. I personally love how quirky, bold, and colorful each of the images are. They represent the diversity of society. The use of color and contrast here definitely provides some inspiration for what I want to include with my Invisible Cities project. Maybe it’d help you too!

I love this! I think the designs are really interesting because Wikipedia doesn’t have extremely unique branding — it’s just kind of a web page with somewhat outdated formatting. That being said, their simplicity ended up being a good thing for this project, because the designers could create an entirely new brand for the icons!
