World AIDS Day was just a week ago. I recently found out about a huge ongoing project titled ‘The AIDS Memorial Quilt.’ Each panel of the quilt represents a life taken away by AIDS. The pieces are created by families and friends and customized in a way which memorializes the life lost.

This project began in 1987 and is considered the largest community arts project in history. There are currently more the 48,000 panels. Though the first exhibition of the quilt was at the National Mall in D.C., pieces still travel to various exhibitions around the country.
