A trend I’ve noticed recently among Gen Z fashion is using (or re-creating) Renaissance/Classicism/any type of traditional, “Louvre-esque” painting as fabric prints for clothing. I’ve attached a similar example below, of tapestry fabric being repurposed into corset tops. It’s fascinating to see how art styles are cycled in and out of different media, from existing as paint on canvas to being made into apparel, etc. Like the Ways of Seeing documentary mentioned, the painters of some of these classic works probably never imagined their work would be viewed not framed and hanging on a wall, but as a phone case, crop top, or platform boots!
