This is just me being a groupie, but I have been a big fan of the Manchester band The 1975 for a long time, and one of the things they’re best known for is their use of light–especially as glowing rectangles–in their branding and in their set design for shows. Although the mood and aesthetic of their album art, discography, merchandise, and shows are varied, The 1975 has always credited James Turrell’s various light installations as inspiration for their concert experiences. Although it’s not quite the same as viewing it in a space specifically designed for his work e.g. a museum, it’s still really gorgeous to see in person!
