Is it just me or do I see the posters of Matisse’s work everywhere? I’ve noticed that they have blown up recently especially with the Millennial demographic. I totally understand the appeal of them. These posters tend to be abstract although low-key they just remind me plants. And they have appealing colors such as pastel tones.
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this one in multiple places. Doing some research, I’ve noticed that Matisse posters are a big trend when it comes to interior design. One article makes a good point about its popularity: “it’s organic yet whimsical, simple but still interesting.”. Matisse’s art is seen as versatile and universal since it appeals to most people. Also, it blends and adapts to so many environments: “It can fit in a variety of home design styles, including everything from ‘a higher-end Danish-style home with lots of plants’ to a ‘super colorful home with Memphis-style furniture.'”. The article also mentions that another attribute to the popularity of these posters is the hit of a MET exhibit.
Many articles I looked at included women appreciative of the femininity and the realistic portrayal of women’s bodies in Matisse’s art. Also, there is a sense of female empowerment to have a painting of female features that usually seen as taboo such as breasts or butt.

I don’t think I’ve seen his work in particular, but I’ve come across many similar interior design pieces. I like the simple curves, focused yet muted colors and flat shapes that are common in these types of pieces.

OMG, I literally saw these when I was looking for room decorations and I was like omg yes! I love them! And now I see them in everyone’s freaking room and I’m like omg I was so late to this trend that I didn’t even know was a trend. I agree with your comments, I have the female body ones and I definitely like the kind of amorphous body composition that he used despite the constant focus on the female figure and what it is shaped like.

YES it’s so trendy esp with Tiktok and Instagram and the “Scandinavian” interior design aesthetic! Noticed this too for sure! Makes sense as it’s simple but powerful and can be a statement piece of decor or match other colors/maximalist rooms as well.
