I remember reading about The Little Prince when I was in elementary school. Back then, I did not understand the deep messages behind the plot. I only read to enjoy the surface level of the plot and find out the little prince’s journey. I recall the little prince traveling around different planets encountering different types of situations.

However, when I reread the little prince during my senior year, I realized that this book can be taken in a completely different perspective. Now that I carefully read through each sentence, trying to interpret the lessons, I learned a lot from the chapters. For example, the book contains a very powerful message of people having different interpretations. The hat that the author drew was in fact not a picture of a hat. Instead, it was a picture of a “boa constrictor digesting an elephant.” After reading those lines, I could kind of picture it. I could also further my imagination and think it was a camel without legs.

Like this example, I feel like the power of art is the unlimited possibility of interpretation. I love the abstractness that art provides and I enjoy discussing the different perspectives my friends and I get from viewing the same art piece.

I read this book in my French class in high school, and it was very deep in motifs and symbolism for a childrens book. Art is definitely a powerful tool in this book.

This book is so powerful! My middle school math teacher would always quote the Little Prince, and I remember not really being able to get it. With a re-read, it was super interesting and complex — definitely worth a read.
