After delving into web development since last semester, especially the front-end world, I discovered and soon became fascinated by the world of the 3D interactive art on the web.

Some of the prime examples that intrigued me was Porter Robinson’s personal website and his PC/VR-based concert that he hosted on the web during the pandemic: Viewer is able to navigate on the virtual environment that is the website. In the former, you control a light orb and are able to enter into different customized levels that represent some of Porter’s most popular songs, each of which provides an unique visual experience.

Later I started exploring more with how to even create these beautiful interactive 3D environment on the web. One of the first javascript library I discovered was: https://threejs.org/.

It is a library that is built on top of opengl and provides so methods to help developers create their imaginary world from the ground up.

Here are some example websites I really liked that were build in threejs: https://cineshader.com/; https://mathis-biabiany.fr/; https://particle-love.com/.

I am a huge fan of Porter Robinson but I had never checked out his website before. I found it really creative, personal, and also interactively interesting. I think his music, just like his website reflects his artistic ambitions and creativeness.
