Throughout our Sound Analysis project, I continued to look more into the art of audio and sound itself. I found a lot of amazing audio works, but the one that I want to share is a piece called “Out of Range” by Jana Winderen. She’s also a biochemist and fish ecologist before an artist, and this audio work was created through the usage of ultrasounds and echolocations of bats and dolphins. Although this isn’t exactly “visual” art and what we’re dealing with in this class, I still found it very relevant because whether it is through the ears or eyes, both creations are dealing with what humans can’t hear or see without imagination. The application of science in the field of art seems to be incredible as well.

I think this is a really cool concept! It’s interesting that these kinds of sounds aren’t naturally listened to by humans, yet through technology we have been able to discover new surreal inspirations that unlock our potential for modern art.
