April fools is always the most fun day to be on twitter. For once, everyone seems to be able to put all their differences apart and engage in silly, harmless humour. Recently, I’ve noticed a lot of companies embrace this.
Here were some of my highlights of some Aprils Fools marketing stunts from this year:
- Velveeta Cheese Skincare products. A fantastic way of personifying their slogan of “liquid gold”. Who wouldn’t love a cheese facemask?
- Bud Light pizza seltzers. Really interesting for bud light to focus its “prank” on its seltzers and not the beer. Also scary how many people seemed to want this to happen….
- Lego smart bricks. Remember those stepping on lego memes.
- Duolingo Toilet Paper. Actually, a genius idea if you ask me. Lots of time wasted that could be put into good use.
Think these stunts are actually a great way of focussing on a company’s product line without actually ever mentioning it. Pretty genius.
