After doing the data visualization readings, I was inspired to discover more projects and stumbled across a brilliant 2008 campaign for WWF Japan titled “Population by Pixel” that depicts endangered species populations by the number of pixels in the image. Every pixel represented one animal left in the wild and quite literally pictured extinction. I thought this collection of images was so powerful and fast forwarding to 2021, I would be very interested to see a (most likely extremely disheartening) sequel.
