I am a huge Marvel fan and like so many others have recently been obsessively watching the tv show Wandavision. In the season finale that aired last week, I noticed a very interesting use of color to represent character differences. Wanda’s (the main character) powers are always portrayed using red while Agatha’s (the evil character) powers are always portrayed using purple. After reflecting on this intentional decision, I did some research into the use of colors in the show. The conclusion I came to is that warmer colors are used to represent the good and ever-changing magic that Wanda possesses. Agatha’s cool-toned purple color represents her darkness and the evil sources of her power. This use of color as a way to signify personality differences is something similar to what we have been doing in our recent projects and I think it is interesting to learn about intentional color choices that are made in different forms of digital design.
