Did you know that the the Ancient Egyptians are known to be the first florists? They utilized floral arrangements in ceremonial wreaths and garlands for burials, processions, and other religious ceremonies. Floral design dates back to prehistoric times, and we can see much of the influence on contemporary design today.
Seeing so many different Valentine Day’s bouquets this past week got me thinking about the history, art and design of flower arrangements. I wanted to research if there were principles and strategies that florists use to create eye-catching, balanced flower displays. I was not disappointed! I learned about the many different types of floral arrangements. In addition, here is a video I watched from Floral Design Institute that describes the elements of floral design.
Not going to lie, this made me really want to become a professional floral designer! What kind of flower bouquets appeal to you? <3 Happy belated Valentine’s Day!
