Just a week ago, a drawing of a cat on the Nazca lines in Peru was found. It is said to be 2000 years old carving on the hillside in the desert. These types of art is called geoglyph and this specific cat drawing has now become the oldest geoglyph discovered in Nazca, Peru.
One from the ministry stated “The discovery shows, once again, the rich and varied cultural legacy of this site,” but I find it a bit difficult to relate how a cat drawing reflects its ‘rich’ culture. However, it is fascinating how something so ancient as this artefact can be researched and looked into in order to infer their cultures at the time.
This dates back to 200BC-100BC, which is believed that the ancient Peruvians discovered the lightly colored sand underneath the darker, top layer with harder and rocky texture, for which they carved the design of a cat.
