As a psychology major, I have always been fascinated by the relationship between art and mental health. Art therapy is a form of therapy in which professionals use creative activities to help patients gain better understanding of themselves and destress. It is a way to express ideas and feelings that are sometimes too difficult to talk about. I think art therapy highlights just how powerful art is as more than just being aesthetically pleasing and beautiful, it also helps people heal. I have experienced this as whenever I feel stressed, I find that doodling or painting really helps me relax.

I also often use art as therapy. As a Mechanical Engineer, taking an art class a semester allows me to balance my stress.

I totally relate to this Apoorvi! I find art to be grounding and often to function as a reset.
