Henri Matisse. Dance ( I). 1909

Relating our current Sound Project’s theme of sounds and visuals intersecting, I want to draw attention to a module published by the MoMA that showcases various works exploring music in art. One example is Henri Matisse’s Dance (I). Here, we see the importance of the organic lines of the dancers; they create a “fluid visual balance of opposing rhythms and volumes.” You can almost hear the soothing and flowing music they are dancing to just by looking at this piece. Art, music, and dance are, indeed, all connected.
