Image from The First Woman series

In the development of this project series, Yannis Davy Guibinga photographs these pictures as the model is walking up rocks and gravel while doing it all in this frivolous dress. The shoot is based on South Sudanese folklore of the tale of Abuk; the first woman on Earth who was set out to reach the gates of Heaven from where she once was. She sets the model at a higher ground for the image to symbolically represent the mountain or a higher point as the dress converges to a point as you look up the model. The model is also reaching up as if she is Abuk, striving to reach the gates once more.
