One novel thing that quarantine has made a lot of us do is take up interesting hobbies, including many different art forms. One trend that I have seen popping up in the past couple of months that I was never really aware of before was tufted rugs, where loops of yarn are punched through the back of rug backing material either by hand or by gun. One interesting thing about these rugs as opposed to many traditional rugs is that the method makes them more freeform, and they can take on lots of interesting shapes. I’ve seen a lot of people make rugs with their favorite icons or celebrities on them.

I love seeing this trend, as I think it is so interesting how every part of our lives, even objects that we normally might never think of, can be imbued with beautiful and unique design.
