Videographer Catherine Gund grew up in a wealthy Mid-Western family but spends her time and money on her dedicated activism for AIDS. As she grew up in the 1980’s she came out as queer at about the same time as the AIDS epidemic began to expand. Through her mother, she discovered the ACT UP group with whom she began working closely with to bring awareness to AIDS. Catherine Gund is an activism filmmaker that’s filmed the movies What’s on Your Plate?, Born to Fly, and co-produced Disclosure: Trans Lives on Screen, which is currently streaming on Netflix.
