Plein air painting is the act of going outdoors to paint real-life environments. This practice helps many artists come to understand how to develop a landscape. Many famous artists such as Monet and Renoir have taken part in plein air painting.
Plein Airpril, similar to other monthly art trends like Inktober, allows artists to choose a theme for each day from a small list: water, fire, earth, air. For example, for “earth”, many artists on Twitter under the hashtag posted paintings featuring an earthen environment.

The hashtag was started a couple of years ago and is still organized by a small community of dedicated plein air painters, who can be found on Twitter at @warriorpainters.
