Recently art museums have gone broke because the pandemic has stopped in person viewing from occurring. Though going to museums has picked up, there is still a need for money to fund many of these places. A solution that some London based artists have designed is to make NFT’s out of some of the most famous paintings in history. Unit London and a Florence based company were able to acquire licensing agreements with some famous Italian museums in order to display LED editions of the art within dated wooden frames. There were a total of 6 pieces including a couple that were remakes of Da Vinci’s paintings. Along with the ‘paintings’ you could purchase an NFT so you can own part of the piece yourself. I really like how they could reproduce work on a screen and still make it look like a piece of art with imperfections and texture.
