Being an international student from China, Do Ho’s works that explore the concept of belongingness and those that challenges East Asian cultures really resonance with me.

I came across this 24 minute video when I was preparing for my artist presentation. The entire video is kind of long so I could not show the entirety of it during my presentation. However, this video gives a really nice presentation on how Do Ho’s styles evolved throughout the years starting from his days as a RISD student all the way to some of his works in the 2010s. In this video, the artist also talks about how his constant migration and self reflection throughout the years affected his major works. Though his is most known for this fabric sculpture works but hearing him talk about his lesser known projects especially those made during his earlier days in the United States is really fascinating.

This is another video that did not make the cut to my presentation. This video showcases some of Do Ho’s more recent work where he create 2D paintings based on some of his famous fabric sculptures. It is really interesting to see how he uses threads drawings to establish a connection between his current work and some of older works.
