Back in August when I was scouring the internet for room decor inspiration and different artwork to hang on the walls, I rediscovered an art style that I had seen before but hadn’t truly looked into: one line art. These art pieces create faces and bodies using fluid lines that emphasize minimalism: simplicity and empty space. One line art pieces, influenced by the works of Matisse and Picasso, are generally made with clean lines that involve no shading, and–most of the time– remain in black and white. Although reducing art to one of its most basic elements: the line, these pieces are still able to convey heaps of emotion. One line artists including French artist duo “Differantly”, Mira Lou, and Mony masterfully capture the essence of shapes in a simple, unbroken line. Some of their work is shown below. I’ve tried myself to create these drawings and know how challenging it is, which makes these pieces all the more impressive.
