Telematic Art is defined by Xamou Art as, “interactive art using the internet and other digital means of communication, such as email and mobile phones”. Essentially it is a medium that relies on both technology as well as the involvement and interaction of humans. The interactive component is what distinguishes this form from the broader form of digital art. One example of a telematic art project is “Satellites Art Project, ’77” (http://www.ecafe.com/getty/SA/index.html), created by Kit Galloway and Sherrie Rabinowitz with the help of performers and others, which utilized satellites to connect the project team on the West and East Coast of the United States.
