Over the past several decades, South Korea has been rapidly growing and advancing as nation, leaning on technological innovation to bring the country out of poverty and into the international spotlight. One of the biggest areas of growth has been its art scene. Over the past decade, the number of art museums in the country has more than doubled. In addition, Korea has gained more attention from international and Western art collectors and enthusiasts. For example, over the weekend, art gallery Lehmann Maupin unveiled plans to dramatically increase its presence and galleries in Seoul. This news comes after other galleries like Pace and Gladstone revealed similar plans earlier on in the year. Hopefully, this international interest helps to further share and spread Korean culture to a larger audience.
