Back in high school, I discovered Taiwanese artist John Yuyi’s work, which mainly revolves around using temporary tattoos of various social media iconagraphy, designer branding, etc. on herself as her own canvas. While she does a lot of self portrait work that surround the theme of digital identity, she has also worked on editorial campaigns with luxury brands such as Gucci.

Yuyi’s eccentric, avant garde, and collage-centered art style greatly reminds me of our Dadaism unit. Her creativity continues to inspire me to this day, from her visually interesting self-portraits to her borderline grotesque explorations of the human body itself.
