On Tuesday, October 12th, Alexander McQueen held their RTW Spring 2022 Show in London. The show was atypical in several ways, one being that it was held later in the year than usual, as fashion month was concluding. In addition, the show was held in a giant bubble on a rooftop that was similar to a greenhouse. This location and venue were relevant to the rest of the show, as the looks that were debuted were inspired by the London skies. Sarah Burton, the creative director of McQueen, explained that she was looking at the “ever-changing, all-encompassing magnificence” of the sky while designing the collection. This is reflected in the variety and color palette of the show. While some looks utilized bright colors and fluffy textures that imitated clouds, other looks were much more rugged and reflected the grey and blue tones of the London sky. As a cohesive experience, the looks incorporated more rugged aspects than usual, which could be indicative of what to expect going into 2022.
