I saw a YouTube video recently deconstructing why higher frame rate is not necessarily good for an animation’s quality. The video basically was saying that feeding footage into an AI destroys the human quality of what makes hand-animated work so natural and creative. You can find a lot of videos on YouTube of popular Disney movies where there’s a comparison between the original frame rate and something like 60 fps. Overall, the discussion reminded me a lot of how we’ve talked about the impact that technology has on art/design. Technology like AI can definitely be used as a tool, but I think it’s important to remember how powerful handcrafted art can really be.
