Designs have real world consequences

I recently stumbled upon a youtube video which highlighted racial biases in technology. While there is a debate about whether or not we call machine racist, there is definitely and important point to be made about being conscious of our own biases when designing– especially for products that meant to appeal to all.

In a sense, our designs contain and sometimes continue our biases. This video alerted me to possible dire consequences of not being able to check your biases in the necessary areas.
