Ai Weiwei is a Chinese artist/activist that often addresses governmental policies and social issues. One collection I’ll share with you is his face masks, which have become a necessity in daily life. He sells these masks primarily through eBay and they each cost $50. The funds raised are for major humanitarian groups that have to work overtime due to COVID-19. The images are silk-screened onto the masks. I’d assume, because of the foldings of the masks, people only purchase them to collect, not for actual use. Many of the designs express the concepts: freedom of speech and some symbols of censorship.
